I am quite sure that you have already heard of Gotham since the first season already ended. But if you didn’t, here’s a short trailer:
As you already noticed the series tells the story of Gotham City long before its famous villans even existed. The good news is that FOX decided to renew Gotham TV show for a new season. So stay tuned for more updates about the show!
The series debuts with the infamous murder of the Waynes. Unlike the Batman movies or the animated series, the story continues in the past. The Waynes murder is not just an ugly flashback of Bruce, who’s already Batman and fighting for Gotham City.
Gotham brings you the story behind Batman’s legendary story. You get to see a young Bruce Wayne, devastated by his parents death, but already eager for justice, an already slippery Selina Kyle and a sly Oswald Cobblepot (The Penguin). Although the main character is not Bruce Wayne, the series gives you a glance of Gotham before Batman and Jim Gordon’s struggle to bring justice in the city.
I haven’t read the comics, nor watched the entire animated series, but you will notice lots of elements brought back to life in this series: places from the animated series or comic books, but not only. I also love that they have successfully managed to keep Christopher Nolan‘s darkness in Gotham too.
In the animated series are just hints of the origins of the characters. Now you have the chance to find out their whole story.
Even if young detective Jim Gordon (played by Ben McKenzie) is the main character, they are not forgetting the other important villans that Batman will have to face. You will meet Harvey Dent (Nicholas D’agosto), The Pengiun (Robin Lord Taylor), The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith), Catwoman, The Joker (Cameron Monaghan) and lots of other characters long before they became villans. They are just ordinary people seeking for justice in Gotham – or not. You can check the whole cast/characters list here.
I am wondering if we are going to witness the birth of Batman and the process that Bruce will have to pass though to become the epic hero, considering how the first season have ended. Are we going to see The League of Shadows? Or Ra’s al Ghul? What do you think?
Give this series a try and let me know how far do you think the story should go.
