I am quite into appetizers. I mean the little, identical looking ones. They are all good, dunno how they do it honestly, but I love them so much. I could gorge myself only with appetizers and jump straight to dessert.
For me, New Year’s Eve means appetizers feast. I make lots of different appetizers with Mum and I truly believe that New Year’s Eve won’t be the same without them. I’m a foodie – deal with it.
It’s obviously not New Year’s time – but we’re more than halfway through – but these salmon rolls are actually perfect to serve anytime.
Servings: approx 20 | Prep. Time: 10 mins | Waiting Time: n/a | Cook Time: n/a | Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients:
- 150 grams smoked salmon
- 3-4 pita breads
- 100 grams cream cheese
- dill to taste
- lemon zest + lemon juice
- pinch of salt
- pinch of smoked paprika – optional
Method:
I like to add dill from my Mum’s garden in the cream cheese, but you can totally buy the one with greens from the store as well.
- Finely chop the dill and add it to the cream cheese. Mix them well and add a pinch of salt to taste.
- Spread the cream cheese on a pita bread, leaving about a centimetre of cheese-free from the edge.
- Spread some lemon zest on the cream cheese.
- Add the smoked salmon. Try to cover as much as possible. Feel free to chop the salmon to cover the pita bread evenly.
- Squeeze a few drops of lemon juice over the salmon.
Roll the pita bread and cut rolls out of it – they should be about two centimetres thick. You can sprinkle some smoked paprika over the rolls for extra fanciness and flavour.
What is great about this recipe is that it can work for both busy people or perfectionists like me.
You can buy all the ingredients from the store and then put them together, or, you can make your own cream cheese with herbs and your very own pita bread. Having control over the ingredients is always best.

As I already said, it’s not New-Year’s-Eve-exclusive. If you’re having unexpected guests, or you’re feeling lazy (we all do) to put something together, there smoked salmon rolls are perfect.
If you already have the ingredients, they don’t take more than 10-15 minute to put together. Sprinkle some smoked paprika over them and add some dill and you have some fancy and delicious appetizers than didn’t make you sweat in the kitchen.
Oh, forgot to mention. These smoked salmon rollz are perfect for a fancy snack in your lunch bag as well.
Honestly you can use any excuse to enjoy them!

These look great! My mother-in-law used to make something similar with ham, but I think salmon would be even better!
