I will admit that at the beginning this article was not going to be called ways to maximise daily commute, but ways to maximise your cycling commute. Afterwards, I realised that not everyone commutes by bicycle – although is the healthiest way for ourselves and for the environment.
If you commute daily by bus, personal car or bicycle you might be a little bored by the routine of spending some good amount of time in traffic. But you can maximise you daily commute routine with some very easy and entertaining activities.
1. Listen to an audio book or a podcast
Audio books are a huge trend right now and although I would rather prefer to hold a real book in my hands and read it instead of listening, sometimes is not possible. If you’re driving or cycling, there’s no way you can do both. That’s why audio books were invented.
If you’re not a big fan of audio books, like me, then choose some nice podcasts to listen to. I really enjoy listening to the TED Talks podcast. A TED talk does not last more that 18 minutes and they can be very inspirational. You can listen to the latest discoveries in the fight against cancer or a truly remarkable life experience. It’s amazing how many things you can learn in less than 20 minutes!
2. Schedule social media posts
If you’re a blogger, a marketing specialist of just a social media addict, you know how important is to be consistent. Take advantage of the time when you are stuck in a bus and check your social media and stats and schedule some social media posts. I really love using Buffer to manage all my social media accounts for my blog.
This is one of my favourite things to do while commuting. I get to do two things at the same time. I am always kinda lazy when it comes to scheduling social media posts, so while commuting is the perfect time for me!
This might sound weird. But when I’m commuting using public transport, I see a lot of stress and negativity around me. It’s so easy to let that negative energy around you take control. This might as well ruin your entire day.
I know that meditating is hard. But download an app that will guide you through your meditation. You will keep the stress away and your day will be much better without the negative energy from people around you. Also set a timer so that you won’t skip your bus stop – it happened quite some times to me.
4. Host voice conferences
It does not have to be a super important business meeting – maybe just a catch up with your team members? It’s nice to start your day with a non – formal meeting; this will bring your team members closer.
There are lots of apps that can help you host voice conferences such as: Skype, Hangouts, Facetime, etc.
You can read books, articles, news or whatever you feel it’s useful for you.
I like to check my Bloglovin’ feed (you can follow *janded here) to see what my favourite bloggers posted and to get some inspiration as well. Sometimes I also check the news to see what happened around the world.
I really love these ways to maximise daily commute: its proactive, you learn new things and you can also relax a little and enjoy small moments. That’s why I chose to share these tips with you. I truly hope that you will find them useful and you will maximise your daily commute time from now on.
